EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FALSE EYELASHES
What are the false eyelashes made from?
The false eyelashes can be made from synthetic fibres, human hair, or mink hair. Undercover Glamour does not sell mink hair eyelashes as the company director does not agree with this. Undercover Glamour sells both synthetic eyelashes and human hair eyelashes. For example, Eylure's Girls Aloud range are made with synthetic fibres, and Eylure's Katy Perry range are made with human hair.
I have small eyes, will the fake eyelashes fit?
It is important to place the fake eyelashes on your eyelash line before applying the adhesive to test the fit. By doing this you will see if you need to make the fake eyelashes shorter, if you do, then simply cut the lashes to the same length as your natural lashes with a pair of scissors.
How long will false eyelashes stay on for?
Your false eyelashes (if applied correctly) will stay on for the day. We recommend for you to remove them along with your makeup at the end of the day.
Can I use eyelash curlers on my fake eyelashes?
Yes. Using the eyelash curlers will help blend in your natural lashes with the fake eyelashes.
Can I use mascara on my fake eyelashes?
Yes but apply with care. Whether you choose to wear mascara with your fake eyelashes will depend on the type of false eyelashes you have purchased. If you do apply mascara onto your fake eyelashes it is recommended that you apply mascara to your natural lashes first and then apply the fake eyelashes, once secure then apply the mascara. You can then press your fake eyelashes together with your natural lashes to help create a natural look, it is best to do this while the mascara is still wet.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EYELASH ADHESIVE
Will people be able to see the adhesive on the fake eyelashes?
No. We recommend and sell Lashfix from Eylure and the glue dries clear on the fake eyelashes.
Is the adhesive for the fake eyelashes water resistant?
No. The adhesive for the fake eyelashes is water soluble. Therefore, if you do cry or go swimming whilst wearing your false eyelashes the glue will weaken and the fake eyelashes will fall off. Warm water is required to remove the eyelashes.
Could I have an allergic reaction to the adhesive for the fake eyelashes?
Please do not use if you are allergic to any of the following components used to make the adhesive:
Lashfix Ingredients; Water, Rubber Latex, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol, C9-11 Pareth-8, Sodium Salicylate, Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben.
Superfix Ingredients; Alcohol Denat, Ispropyt Alcohol, Nitrocellulose, Isopropyl, Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Trimethyl Pentanyl Diisobutyrate.
If you have a reaction please consult a doctor immediately.
Please do not use the adhesive for the fake eyelashes after a year since purchase to help avoid any issues.
Does the eyelash adhesive have a shelf life?
Yes, the glue comes in a tube and this has a shelf life of 6 months without being opened. Once opened the glue will have a life of about 2-3 months but this will depend on how many times you open the tube and how long you leave the lid off as the glue dries by air activation.
Human Hair Eyelashes versus Synthetic Hair Eyelashes
First off, the concept of getting 100% human hair for your false eyelashes is the same as getting 100% human hair for your hair extensions. The real thing feels more real, looks more real, and acts more real than any fake substitute.
Celebrity make-up artist, Alex Jones prefers using human hair for beauty shoots and especially for close up beauty shots, she says, “they are more natural when you look closely.” She does however use synthetic lashes as they are cheaper and still provide a really great look for other shoots. As well as human and synthetic lashes, Mink lashes are another option, however here at Undercover Glamour we don’t sell them, as our company founder does not agree with this practice and you might as well use human hair eyelashes as this gives the same effect.
Someone who has frequently used or worked with synthetic and human hair eyelashes would be able to feel the difference right away. Human hair lashes are noticeably lighter and a lot more delicate than synthetic hair lashes. When you brush your fingers up against the length of the hair, it feels feathery and soft to the touch and has less of the ‘tell-tale’ glossy sheen that is characteristic of synthetic eyelashes.
Another plus about human hair falsies is that the band is much more pliable (soft), and can easily bend to fit any eye shape, making them much easier to glue in place. Lashes made from synthetic materials not only have stiffer hairs (making them much harder to curl), but also stiffer and thicker bands. However you may be thinking why get synthetic when human lashes look to have the upper hand in the eyelash world, but unlike human hair lashes, they come in every desired length, curl, weight, and thickness.
For the easiest lash application, our celebrity makeup artist, Alex Jones shares her top tips....
1. Apply eyeliner, eye-shadow and mascara before applying false eyelashes.
2. Place the false eyelashes onto your eyelids to check they fit your eye size. If the lash is too long you can trim the outer ends with scissors to achieve the desired length.
3. Apply a thin line of glue to the strips on the false eyelashes, leave for about 30 seconds until the glue becomes tacky/ sticky, but not so it dries.
4. Place the eyelash on the outer side of your eyelid first, and then place the other end to your inner side of the eyelid, making sure the lash is as near to your own lash line as possible, then pat down to stick the lash to your eyelid. Alex Jones recommends using either an orange wood stick, tweezers or an eyelash applicator as this will help you get the false eyelashes as close to your eyelash line as possible.
5. If there is still a small gap between your eyelashes and the false eyelashes, fill this gap with eyeliner.
6. Once the false eyelashes are in place and secure you are ready to party.
Tip: Never tug on the false eyelashes to remove them; soften the glue first with warm water and then they will come away easily.
How to remove strip lashes:
The best way to remove false eyelashes is to dab the top of the lashes with either warm water, eyelash remover or eye makeup remover to loosen the adhesive. Once the adhesive has weakened you can start to gently pull the false eyelashes off. Remove the remains of the adhesive on your eyelids by dabbing more warm water, eyelash remover or eye makeup remover on the area.
For the easiest lash application for Individual Lashes, our celebrity makeup artist, Alex Jones shares her top tips....
1. Celebrity makeup artist, Alex Jones recommends applying eyeliner and eye-shadow first before applying the false eyelashes.
2. Apply a dot of glue onto the end of the individual eyelash, leave for a few seconds until the glue becomes tacky but not so it dries.
3. Place the eyelash on the outer side of your eyelid as close to your eyelash line as possible and then hold down.
4. Keep following the process, until you have the desired look, once achieved you can then add mascara and more eyeliner to help bend your false lashes in.
How to remove individual lashes:
1. The best way to remove the individual false eyelashes is to dab the top of the lashes with either eyelash remover or eye makeup remover to loosen the adhesive and to use warm water. They will also loosen from the steam in the shower so it is a great idea to have a shower first to naturally loosen them.
2. Once the adhesive has weakened you can start to gently pull the false eyelashes off. Never tug or pull hard, wait until the eyelashes have loosened from the warm water or from the remover.
3. Remove the remains of the adhesive on your eyelids by dabbing more eyelash remover or eye makeup remover on the area or by using warm water.
